A video of Luke Shaw sending Thiago Alcantara back to La Masia has gone viral.

England defender Shaw was arguably the best player on the pitch in the 0-0 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield - a result that keeps Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side three points clear of the champions.

Not only did the former Southampton man keep Mo Salah very quiet, he was effective going forward and carved out a golden chance for Bruno Fernandes when he was denied by a fine save from Alisson Becker in the second half.

But United fans loved one moment in particular in the first half where he rinsed Thiago.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder ended up falling face down on the turf after Shaw cutely checked inside and displayed impressive strength to hold him off while running with the ball.

The slow-mo footage shows Thiago comically skidding across the deck and nearly knocking Fabinho over.

The Spanish international was lovely to watch with the ball at his feet as per usual but former Reds legend John Barnes believes Thiago is the reason Liverpool have now gone three games without scoring in the Premier League.

"Thiago, who was running the game and was the best player in the first-half, I don't think that necessarily helped the front three," the 57-year-old told talkSPORT.

"With Henderson and Fabinho in midfield, they just get the ball forward and are much more direct for the three strong-running strikers to get on the ball and go on attack, Thiago slows the game down.

"When he slowed the game down in tight areas, that is not Mane's game, that is not Salah's game. So we're getting used to a new system, but at the moment it's not working."
