Burnley co-owner JJ Watt has social media account locked after NFL icon goes on furious VAR rant

Burnley co-owner JJ Watt was locked out of his X (Twitter) account after posting a furious rant following his side's 1-1 draw with Luton on Friday.

The Hatters scored a controversial late equaliser at Turf Moor when Carlton Morris powered his header into the back of the net.

But Burnley players furiously appealed for a foul on goalkeeper James Trafford by Elijah Adebayo as he rushed out to claim the ball.

However, VAR deemed that the incident was simply a collision between the two players, and the goal stood.

The decision could end up being a hammer blow to Burnley's survival hopes, with Vincent Kompany's side now four points behind 17th-placed Everton instead of two.

And Watt took to X (Twitter) to issue his clear verdict on proceedings, writing: "I'm new to this ownership thing, so if I get fined by the Premier League, so be it...

"This is as blatant and obvious of a foul as you could have. To miss this on the field AND miss this on VAR is truly disgraceful."

But while Watt hasn't been fined by the Premier League (yet), he didn't exactly get away with his rant scot free.

The American, who was named as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year on three occasions during an illustrious 12-year playing career, saw his account locked by X (Twitter).

The reason? Watt posted live match footage from the Burnley vs Luton match - therefore breaching copyright.

The 34-year-old informed his followers of the copyright breach, with the notice also stating that he had to review the company's copyright policy.

Meanwhile, Burnley boss Kompany went on an impassioned five-minute rant after the game about VAR, telling reporters: "Who was there for the Aston Villa game away? Not so long ago.

"Who was there for the Bournemouth game away? Who was there for Nottingham Forest away?

"What are we doing here [with VAR]? It's a joke. I will start by saying 100 per cent respect and credit to Luton, they were terrific, what they do as a club and their manager, they deserve whatever's coming to them. They're a really good club.

"In this phase, I've got to defend my team and my club. I don't understand how we can come through this phase and not come to the conclusion that it's a foul."
