It's official, Joey Barton's Fleetwood Town are the dirtiest team in League One.

Fleetwood Town have been shown a staggering 64 yellow cards and five red cards so far this season resulting in 310 disciplinary points.

That's based on data collected by the FA via Blackpool Gazette.

The 36-year-old, who was a no-nonsense and ferocious midfield, has clearly translated his playing style onto his squad of players.

Joey Barton retired from playing upon taking charge of Fleetwood in 2018.

His side currently occupy tenth spot and are 12 points adrift of the play-offs. It doesn't help their case for promotion when they squander two-goal leads.

That's exactly what happened over the weekend as Fleetwood drew two-a-piece with Oxford United which frustrated Barton.

"My frustration is with the team; you win or lose as a team," he said.

"I don't want to single out any individuals because it is a team game and there are many moving parts.

"But also I cannot make excuses for some of the more senior players in the team any longer.

"I've tried to protect them and been loyal to them but at some point you have to put up or shut up; a few of them are fast approaching that."

"Good players will seize on those errors," Barton said on Jamie Mackie leveling for Oxford on Saturday.

"They punished us when we made mistakes and it is really frustrating. That is football; you accept that from time to time but again at some point you have to draw the line and say 'enough is enough.'

"It is a case of bringing better players in or moving those players out and bringing what we have from within."

Where will Fleetwood Town finish in League One?
