This summer transfer window has taken another remarkable turn as El Chiringuito reported last night that Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid.

In the year where we have seen the unimaginable as Lionel Messi left his boyhood club Barcelona, there may still be more drama to come during this window.

On El Chiringuito last night, in a typically dramatic fashion, Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre informed us that Ancelotti is very keen to reunite with the Portuguese superstar to help Real Madrid challenge for major trophies this season.

Ancelotti and Ronaldo worked successfully together during the Italian manager's last stint in Madrid as they were finally able to bring the club's tenth Champions League title back to the capital.

During Ronaldo's nine remarkable years in Real Madrid, he became the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 games and won four Champions League titles.

As Ronaldo's contract is set to run out for Juventus next season, there have been several reports that both the club and Ronaldo would accept a transfer if a good offer was received.

Despite being 36 years old, Ronaldo still showed last season that he is able to contribute significantly on the pitch as he scored 36 goals in all competitions.

Juventus have been struggling financially which was worsened with the coronavirus pandemic after they had record losses meaning they may benefit from removing Ronaldo's wages from their books.

However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo is not close to a departure from Turin: "Cristiano Ronaldo situation. Juventus always stated they have not received any bid, as of now. PSG are not interested in signing Ronaldo and they plan to keep Mbappé.

"No approach from Man City - they're now focused on Harry Kane deal."

Due to the financial situation of clubs across Europe, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid will be able to afford Ronaldo's wages yet after the transfer window we have seen this year, it is impossible to rule out any outcomes.
