Benfica 'reject bid from Man Utd for Goncalo Ramos' as player-plus-cash offer revealed

Benfica have rejected a bid for Goncalo Ramos.

Manchester United have had a player plus cash deal rejected for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, it has been claimed.

With United set to return to the Champions League, Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his squad this summer.

Mason Mount was signed from Chelsea last week for an initial £55million, while United are thought to be closing in on Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana.

As per Sky Sports, Personal terms for the Cameroonian shot-stopper are not expected to be a problem and there remains a willingness from all parties to complete the move after United’s opening £38.5million was rejected.

United have also been looking to sign a striker ever since the acrimonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last November.

And having been priced out of deals for the likes of Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, it appears Ten Hag has turned his attention to Ramos.

United to sign Ramos?

According to Caught Offside, United stepped up their interest in Ramos and Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund last week.

However, the publication claimed they have failed to come up with a suitable offer for the former.

United have allegedly had a bid rejected for the Benfica star which included Brazilian left-back Alex Telles as part of the deal.

Ramos, who Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha has claimed would cost £69million, caught the attention of several high-profile clubs after scoring a hat-trick for Portugal during the Qatar World Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United have been linked with the 22-year-old in the past but are not said to be actively pursuing him at present,

It remains to be seen whether United will try again for Ramos, who netted 27 goals and claimed 12 assists in 47 appearances for Benfica last season.

Yet the publication claims Telles prefers a move to his former club Porto, while he also has suitors in his native Brazil.
