Marcos Alonso could reportedly return to the Premier League as Barcelona are unable to register him amid the club's financial issues.
Alonso joined Barca from Chelsea last year and made 37 appearances in all competitions last season.
But he's still yet to be registered by the Catalan giants for the 2023/24 La Liga campaign because of the club's dire financial situation.

He's not the only player left in the dark as Inigo Martinez and Inaki Pena have also not been registered this season.
Martinez signed for Barca from Athletic Bilbao this summer while goalkeeper Pena featured in five games in all competitions last season.
As for Alonso, he's not played in Barca's first two games of the new season because of his registration nightmare. Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in Spain are preventing the player from being registered.

The 32-year-old, who also spent time with Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland in England, wants to stay at Barca, with Xavi keen on holding onto him.
Despite Alonso, Xavi and Barca being on the same page, his registration issues could see him leaving the Camp Nou outfit before the transfer window slams shut.
A departure from Barca could see him return to the Premier League, with an unnamed top flight side making a move for the full-back.

That's according to Spanish reporter Gerard Romero, who claims that Alonso is 'evaluating' a 'proposal' from a Premier League club.
Alonso moved to England in 2010 when Bolton signed him from Real Madrid. He made nine Premier League appearances and featured in 26 Championship matches following their relegation.
He had a loan spell at The Stadium of Light, making 16 appearances.
And, of course, the Spaniard enjoyed a prolific spell at Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.
