Tottenham have 'five-man shortlist' to replace Harry Kane which includes Arsenal forward

They have a five man shortlist.

Tottenham have a “five-man shortlist” to replace Harry Kane, it has been claimed.

On Saturday Kane completed his £100million move to Bayern Munich, making his debut for the Bavarian giants just hours later, coming off the bench in his side's 3-0 German Super Cup defeat to RB Leipzig.

Upon signing a four-year deal, Kane said: "I'm very happy to be part of Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world and I've always said that I want to move and prove myself at the highest level in my career.

"This club is defined by its winning mentality - it feels very good to be here."

Kane is Tottenham’s record scorer, having netted 280 goals in 435 appearances for the club, with his first coming back in December 2011.

It will be near impossible to replace Kane, who some Spurs supporters regard as the club’s greatest-ever player. However, Tottenham are said to have come up with a five-man shortlist, in an attempt to soften the blow of losing the England captain.

Tottenham’s five-man striker shortlist

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham have identified five potential Kane replacements.

The first is Chelsea’s wantaway striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian forward’s prospective move to Juventus has stalled, with Chelsea reportedly likely to accept a bid in the region of £40million for the player.

However, the publication noted that Lukaku doesn’t want to stay in the Premier League, and his play style is not best suited to Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

Another player reportedly eyed by Tottenham is Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, who netted 22 goals and claimed eight assists in 33 Liga Portugal games last term. The 31-year-old would reportedly cost just £25million.

Elsewhere, Spurs have miraculously been linked with Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun. The Gunners reportedly want around £47million for the Hale End graduate, who scored 22 goals on loan at Reims last season.

Gazzetta dello Sport added that before Kane’s departure, Spurs had explored the prospect of signing 21-year-old Gent Gift Orban, a Nigerian forward who scored nine goals in 10 games in Belgium last season.

Finally, Tottenham reportedly “monitored the situation” of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic last month, but cooled their interest when it appeared Kane was going to stay at the club for another season.

Amid the England record scorer’s departure, however, Spurs could reignite their interest. The 23-year-old Serbian would allegedly cost £68million.
