Trent Alexander-Arnold's First Premier League Assist Is Going Viral Again, It Was A Sign Of Things To Come

Trent Alexander-Arnold's First Premier League Assist Is Going Viral Again, It Was A Sign Of Things To Come

This was special.

For many of you reading this, Trent Alexander-Arnold's assist for Mohamed Salah in Liverpool's clash against Bournemouth was one of the first real glimpses of what this talented full-back could produce.

Back in April 2018, as Manchester City romped to the Premier League title, Jurgen Klopp gave a teenage Alexander-Arnold a chance to impress Gareth Southgate ahead of his World Cup selection - and he did just that.

After a steady first-half, the Liverpool-born right-back stole the show in the second when he produced a quite magnificent 40 yard switch to Salah, who cushioned a header into the back of the net. What a pass, though.

With two Bournemouth players appearing to block his path, it didn't look like a great deal was on - but as we've all come to learn in recent years, Alexander-Arnold sees things that others don't.

He dropped a perfectly-weighted ball over Nathan Ake's shoulder to the profilic Salah and well, the rest is history.

Liverpool went on to claim all three points thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino but it was that assist - and performance - from Trent that grabbed the headlines.

Years later and Alexander-Arnold named that assist for Salah against Bournemouth as his favourite yet.

Some were surprised that he didn't mention the now-iconic 'corner taken quickly' assist for Divock Origi in their famous Champions League win against Barcelona.

But that moment against the Cherries comes out on top. "For me, it was the vision, execution, timing, weight of pass, distance, strength and technique," he said of the assist.

Last weekend, the England international once again showed his passing prowess as he found Diogo Jota for Liverpool's controversial penalty against Crystal Palace.

Launching it from his own box with that trusty right boot, the pass found Jota with perfect precision and moments later, Vicente Guaita was adjudged to have brought the in-form forward down.

Is Trent the best passer in the Premier League right now?
