Son Heung-min has a strict self-imposed rule over getting married that he has kept for over four years

Son Heung-min has a strict self-imposed rule over getting married that he has kept for over four years

Son Heung-min has explained the rule which means he will not be getting married anytime soon.

Spurs captain Heung-Min Son has a strict marriage rule which stems from his father.

Son's dad Son Woong-jung, a former professional player, is known for giving him tough love and made him do four hour keepy uppy sessions as a youngster.

He's also refuted claims that he is world class and demanded more from Son. But his strongest take is that the former Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen man should not get married until he has retired from football.

He feels as though his career should be his first priority and Son is inclined to agree.

"My father says this and I agree, as well," Son said in an interview with The Guardian.

"When you marry, the number one will be family, wife and kids, and then football. I want to make sure that while I play at the top level, football can be number one. You don't know how long you can play at the top level.

"When you retire, or when you are 33 or 34, you can still have a long life with your family."

Son has reportedly dated Korean stars Bang Min-ah and Yoo So-young in the past, confirming his relationship with the latter in November 2015.

They split in 2016 and So-young revealed that she didn't know who son was at first when they started dating, with her football knowledge not too sharp.

"Yes! I like watching soccer but I don't know which player is who," This is the first time I'm revealing this but I didn't know who he was at first." So-young said on the Jung Young Jin and Choi Wook's Fiery Friday Night Show.

"'I'm sorry. I only know about Ahn Jung Hwan'. He seemed very startled. He asked me, 'You don't know me?' My friend spoke up for me and explained that I really don't know who he is. I was having a meal with my peers and I got to meet him while I was with them. We didn't meet at a club."

Son has grown into a huge star in his native South Korea and the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot is now a Samsung Galaxy brand ambassador.

He features in adverts and because of his affiliation, he was recently unable to hold a fan's phone for a selfie.
